WHO WE ARE

 

TAYLOR HESS

Director

 

Taylor Hess has a proven track record of developing and overseeing successful fiction and non-fiction projects. She directed the multiple award-winning “Mack Wrestles” for ESPN 30 for 30 (SXSW 2019), “Guts” for The Atlantic, and several episodes of Vox Media’s docuseries hit for Netflix “Explained.” Her work has been supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Tribeca Film Institute.

Notable producing highlights include “Between the Temples” (Sundance 2024), Gotham Award nominee “The Surrogate,” (SXSW 2020), and under the Couple 3 banner, she produced Independent Spirit Award nominee “Lapsis” (SXSW 2020), the Sandbox Films documentary “In Silico” (DOC NYC 2020), and many short science documentaries for Quanta Magazine.

Taylor has worked at Jigsaw Productions, Vox, Part 2 Pictures, The Gotham by IFP, and Scott Rudin Productions. She is a contributing editor for Filmmaker Magazine and graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

 

NOAH HUTTON

Director & Editor

 

Noah is a writer, director, and editor of documentary and narrative films. He has directed and edited award-winning campaigns for brands and nonprofits in addition to independent work on festival-bound features.

Noah was nominated for a 2021 Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay for “Lapsis,” a sci-fi feature he wrote, directed, scored, and edited, which premiered in the narrative feature competition at SXSW 2020 and was released by Film Movement in 2021. In 2020 he completed “In Silico,” a ten-year documentary begun in 2009 and supported by Sandbox Films and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation about a ten-year project to simulate the human brain on supercomputers. Previously he directed the documentary features “Deep Time” (SXSW 2015) and “Crude Independence” (SXSW 2009).

 

SAM HOWARD

Head of Branded Content

 

Sam Howard is a Brand Marketing Executive with a twenty year track record of accelerating consumer growth through content marketing quality for renowned global brands, from professional sports leagues to leading entertainment IP.  

Serving in leadership positions on both the Client and Agency side of the business, Sam has a unique understanding of the advertising landscape, managing fully integrated teams while steering massive, critically acclaimed commercial communications like NFL Super Bowl LII's Dirty Dancing, and Beats by Dre's You Love Me.

With Couple 3, his intention is simple -- business goals should lead any project, any production investment should be appropriately balanced, and the intended audience should always see themselves reflected in the work. 

 

JESSE MILLER

Head of Production

 

Jesse Miller is a producer based in Brooklyn who has shepherded numerous award-winning documentary and narrative features through all stages of production, as well as short-form branded docs and commercial content. Recently he co-produced “Between the Temples” (Sundance 2024) from Ley Line Entertainment, which was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics, and he produced Noah Schamus’ debut narrative feature, “Summer Solstice,” which had its premiere at the Provincetown International Film festival. 

Under the Couple 3 banner, Jesse produced the narrative feature film “Lapsis,” which premiered in competition at SXSW in 2020, the feature documentary “In Silico” (DOC NYC 2020), and co-produced the award-winning documentary feature “Deep Time” (SXSW 2015).

 

JOSEPH VARCA

Producer

 

Joseph Varca brings a wide range of experience as a producer, director, and editor to his work at Couple 3. Alongside Jesse Miller and Taylor Hess, he produced the 2020 narrative feature “Lapsis”, which premiered at SXSW and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 2021.

Joseph has directed and produced campaigns for Disney on Broadway, GLAAD, ADCOLOR, the AAF (American Advertising Federation) and myFace, and has edited long and short-form content for a variety of non-profit organizations such as GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network), TLDEF (Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund), as well as producing branded work for Dell, Xerox and 350.org.
